Kinoshita Communications LLC
Strategic Marketing and Communicationsexperience in public relations

I founded Kinoshita Communications LLC in 2008 to provide services to non-profit organizations and small businesses in the Pacific Rim. I have produced results for Good Beginnings Alliance, Hafner Creative Communications, Hawaii Island Ulumau Leadership Series, Kamehameha Schools, Kupa`a Business Planners and Words and Numbers. I also like to stay involved with the physics, space and research communities by contributing to national science magazines and Web sites.

Industry Awards

My work has earned the Creativity in Public Relations Award for Best Product Launch (1998), the Edward L. Bernay's award for Best Initial Public Offering (2000) and the Silver Telly Award for Best Educational Video for Academic Use (2006).

15 Years Professional Experience

I graduated from the College of Communications at
California State University, Fullerton in 1995, one of the largest and top-performing programs in the nation. I began working in the tech industry with Toshiba Computer Systems Division and helped support the launch of Pentium-based notebook computers.

In 1998, I was recruited to help grow the Los Angeles technology division for Fleishman-Hillard, a multinational public relations agency. As managing supervisor, I directed marketing campaigns across the United States and Europe, working with Excite, Yahoo!, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Sabella Media,
Seagate, Vicinity Corporation, Websense and others. My programs were often designed to expand sales markets, obtain rounds of financing, help young and mid-sized companies reorganize following periods of rapid growth, compete in crowded markets and/or earn high valuations during initial public offerings.

Expertise, Integrity, Value.
hawaii public relationsIn 2001, I left Fleishman-Hillard to expand media relations efforts at the
W. M. Keck Observatory in Hawaii. While there, I formalized the observatory's public relations office, began Podcasting the monthly astronomy lectures, designed and installed a trio of visitor information kiosks, redesigned the observatory Web site and quadrupled the impact of its science programs at local area schools.

I was fortunate in 2002 to be part of a team that produced the first Environmental Impact Statement for the Mauna Kea Science Reserve. The findings earned a service award from NASA and acknowledgement from the Office of Hawaiian Affairs. The EIS concluded the summit of Mauna Kea had suffered substantial and significant impacts as a result of development.

At the national level, I helped persuade Keck scientists to increase and improve their communications and outreach efforts, especially at astronomical society meetings. As a result, the Observatory participated in its first press conference at the 205th American Astronomical Society meeting, which significantly increased support for the Keck II Laser Guide Star system.
